Huddersfield-based Big Red Industries Group has officially taken over rugby league club Midlands Hurricanes.

The Betfred League One club had previously been jointly owned by Mike Lomas and Alan Robinson.

An agreement was made where the Big Red Industries Group, of which Mike is CEO and owner, would purchase the club.

Mike will remain club chairman and has appointed Greg Wood as Hurricanes CEO. Greg brings a wealth of knowledge from a career in professional sport. Mike would also like to thank Alan for his support during his first season in rugby league.

Both Mike and Greg have confirmed they have exciting plans to develop the sport in the Midlands and help grow rugby league beyond its Northern heartlands.

Mike, Greg and the Big Red Industries Group have always had a huge passion for rugby league. The Big Red Industries Group has sponsored Huddersfield Giants for the last five seasons and recently took over sponsorship of the Fantastic Media Stand at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Midlands Hurricanes are currently in the process of moving to a new stadium which they hope to announce in the coming weeks.
