An award-winning local developer has been granted planning permission to convert a derelict farm complex into 11 new homes in Honley.

Huddersfield-based Holroyd Homes has secured approval from Kirklees Council to redevelop a collection of stone barns into 10 new dwellings, together with the comprehensive refurbishment of the existing farmhouse at Seventy Acre Farm, Meltham Road, Honley.

The scheme will deliver characterful, individual properties ranging from two to four-bedrooms, arranged around a central cobbled courtyard.

The former dairy farm was purchased by Holroyd Homes in May 2023 and the firm have been working closely alongside Kirklees Council’s planning department to deliver a sensitive scheme that will give the old buildings a new sustainable purpose, securing their long-term future.

The family-run business recently won a regional LABC Building Excellence Award for their Fold Farm development, a 19-house scheme in Netherton, and have just completed a bespoke one-off new build home in Holmbridge which is currently for sale.

Work at Seventy Acre Farm will commence immediately with the first phase of homes due for completion for Spring 2025.
