Holmfirth Hotshots Netball Club is having an open training session to recruit new players.
Holmfirth Hotshots is a vibrant and inclusive community club based in the heart of Holme Valley, catering for players of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced athletes. Players of all ages are welcome – from the age of 14 upwards.
The club was originally set up in 2010 as a ‘back to netball club’ and a safe space for mums and females from across Kirklees to enjoy the game without the added pressure of performance.
Founder Gemma Patterson was eager to get back playing after the birth of her first child but knew her fitness and confidence needed work.
By setting up a netball club that allowed females of all ages and abilities to enjoy the game, make friends for life and take a break from home, the club has continued to grow and now has four teams.
The open training session will be held on Thursday December 12 (7pm-9pm) at Newsome Academy.
The Hotshots compete in the Huddersfield Netball League and various teams play weekly matches in both summer and winter. There are also tournaments in the summer.
Regular training sessions are held at Newsome Academy during the summer but not currently during the winter as the club recognises it can be a challenge to juggle family life, work and other commitments.
However, that might change soon so the club can help its players focus on skill development, teamwork and fitness.
Club spokesman Annabel Kirwin said: “Joining the Holmfirth Hotshots means becoming part of a supportive and passionate netball community.
“Our club not only focuses on improving players’ netball abilities but also fosters friendships for life and a sense of belonging.
“Whether you are new to the sport or looking to enhance your skills, our club offers a welcoming environment for all.
“We believe that by promoting the sport of netball and highlighting the unique aspects of our club, we can attract new players and continue to grow our netball family.”
