It’s Holmfirth Food and Drink Festival this weekend (September 14 and 15) with food, drink and great entertainment.

The two-day festival usually attracts more than 40,000 people, the streets are lined with quality produce and drink and the lead sponsor this year is the Magic Rock brewery.

All the food stalls will be open from 10am to 6pm on Saturday with the stalls in Towngate by Holmfirth bus station open until 8pm. On Sunday stalls are open from 10am to 5pm. The team behind the festival is made up of a mix of local business owners and volunteers.

The food and drink this year includes British game street food, Thai, Greek, homemade Indian food, Turkish street food, steakhouse beefburgers with loaded fries, paella, pizza, baos, stir fry, gourmet scotch eggs, chilli sauces, peanuts, speciality coffees, cakes, churros and sweets. There is even human grade dog food so pets can have a treat too.

Drinks stalls include beers, handcrafted spirits, fruit liqueurs, chocolate rum and pre-bottled cocktails and there are also arts and crafts stalls.

Family entertainment includes Holmfirth-based Craftydevilz specialising in circus skills … but will be giving visitors to the festival the chance to do them and be the stars of the show.

People will also be able to get close up to owls thanks to the Wise Owl family run rescue centre which takes in wild owls and birds of prey from the wild, nurses them back to health and puts them back into the wild.

Disabled people will be able to meet Slaithwaite-based Experience Community which is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company specialising in supporting physically disabled people accessing the outdoors through walking, cycling, arts and conservation. https://huddersfieldhub.co.uk/how-experience-community-cic-helps-disabled-people-explore-the-great-outdoors/

Holme Valley Climate Action Partnership will be looking at local produce, grow your own ideas and showcasing veggie recipes.

Paint The People will provide face painting and temporary tattoos, glitter and gem art.

Environmental Projects In Kirklees (EPIKS) will give people the chance to try e-bikes for free with a qualified instructor at the Sands Recreation Ground. Just book via eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/walk-wheel-ride-free-e-bike-test-rides-tickets-1012649009447?aff=oddtdtcreator
