Huddersfield’s Kirkwood hospice has a couple of festive fundraisers in the run-up to Christmas.

People can organise their own Reindeer Run or have a sponsored woolly jumper day at work, college or school.

The events will raise vital funds to help The Kirkwood provide free, specialist care to adults in Kirklees who are living with advanced, progressive, life-limiting illnesses while also supporting their carers and families.

The Reindeer Run is ideal for schools, nurseries and youth groups where children become Santa’s helpers, donning reindeer antlers as they dash, prance, and gallop to support The Kirkwood. They can choose their own date, route, and distance.

All children taking part will receive a pair of reindeer antlers, a certificate of thanks, a personalised fundraising envelope, access to a JustGiving page for online donations and a Reindeer Run flyer to share with families and friends.

The Kirkwood’s community fundraisers are available to visit schools and groups to share stories of how the funds raised will make a real impact.

The other event is The Kirkwood’s Woolly Pully Day.

The hospice wants all secondary schools, community groups and businesses to take part in the day simply by wearing their favourite winter woolly, whether it’s at school, work, or anywhere else.

Each place can decide when to hold the event and how much to donate, whether it’s £1 or more.

This event has been sponsored by Huddersfield-based first aid training company Purple Dog which will provide a free one-hour training session to any school or business which signs up to Woolly Pully Day.

This first aid session will cover cardiopulmonary resuscitation and how to use a defibrillator.
