Bridge Law has invested in its family law division after a busy 12 months with the appointment of specialist family law solicitor, Jill Walker, who has just joined the firm’s Holmfirth team.

Founder and director Claire Stewart said: “Myself and the team are absolutely delighted to welcome Jill to our growing team.

“Jill has an outstanding reputation locally and across Yorkshire and the North West, having had an impressive career specialising in family law for over 20 years. Her passion, skill and knowledge in the area of family law shines through when you meet her.”

Jill has joined the firm after a number of years working successfully as a locum solicitor, at both large city centre and local high-street firms across Yorkshire and the North West.

Commenting on her appointment, Jill said: “I’m thrilled to join Bridge Law’s growing family law department. After a number of years working as a locum solicitor at various firms, when the opportunity arose to join a firm with a brilliant reputation, that is based in the heart of my own local community, it was an easy decision to make.”

In addition to Jill’s appointment, the team have also invested in the career progression of aspiring family solicitor, Lucy Butler, who joined the Holmfirth team as a legal assistant in 2018 and was promoted to paralegal in 2021.

Lucy is currently studying for her Masters in Law and Solicitors Qualifying Examinations at the University of Law in Leeds and is on track to become a solicitor at the firm in 2024.

Consultant solicitor and head of the firm’s family law department, Carol-Anne Baker, said: “I’m thrilled to be working with Jill, she is truly an asset to our team and has already settled in well.

“We’ve experienced a substantially increasing amount of clients seeking advice on family matters over the last year, so it was definitely the right time to expand the team.”

Kayleigh Morgan at Wild PR

Kayleigh Morgan, an account manager at Huddersfield-based PR and marketing agency Wild PR, has been shortlisted for the Young Professional Award at the PRmoment Awards 2023.

The national awards celebrate excellence and recognise and reward outstanding campaigns and exceptional talent in the UK PR and Communications sector.

The Young Professional Award, in particular, recognises the brightest and most promising PR communicator under 30 years old working in either an agency or in-house role.

Kayleigh joined the business in January 2020 as a junior account manager and is responsible for looking after a portfolio of clients across multiple industries, including manufacturing, professional services and tech.

Thanks to her passion and drive for Wild PR and its success, the clients she looks after, and the team she manages, Kayleigh is among four finalists shortlisted for the award. The winners will be announced at an award ceremony on Tuesday April 25 2023, at Hilton Deansgate, Manchester.

Speaking on the shortlist, founder and managing director of Wild PR, Katrina Cliffe, said: “Kayleigh is an example of the type of employee that any agency would value. Throughout her career, she has taken on feedback to enable herself to grow in her role, and when she sets an ambition, she works hard to achieve it, demonstrating all our key values in her day-to-day work, particularly passion.

“This shortlist is an incredible achievement. Regardless of the award night’s outcome, she is a winner in our eyes!”

Kayleigh added: “The shortlist was a huge surprise, and I am absolutely elated. I can’t thank Katrina enough for bringing me on board those three years ago; if it weren’t for the enormous opportunities, core values and the fantastic team we have at Wild PR, I wouldn’t be able to do any of it.”

Rebecca Trueman of The Nest

The Nest CIC based in Holmfirth is celebrating after being awarded funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.

The Nest is a community parenting space based in Holmfirth Tech and it supports parental health and wellbeing both physical and mental, and early years development.

Sessions delivered from their space are a mix of in-house such as stay and play, parent and child boogie, local non-profit sessions including messy/sensory play, volunteer groups such as the breastfeeding support group, and private business sessions.

The Nest has been set up by three mothers who have had very different parent journeys. All have experience of mental health challenges, facing post-natal depression, feeding challenges, birth recovery, loneliness and isolation.

This new National Lottery funding will make a huge difference and will be used to pay The Nest’s lease and activity costs. The venue will now be able to increase capacity from eight sessions a week to sixteen and double the number of sessions delivered by The Nest to six.

As well as offering a different range of sessions, it will mean that support specifically for adults will be introduced – postnatal yoga, sessions for dads and LGBTQ parents for example.

Rebecca Trueman, of The Nest, said: “This grant means we can support in excess of 500 people and focus on parents. This will make a big difference to people’s lives.”
