Golcar United were defeated 1-0 at home by Liversedge in a pre-season friendly with a James Walshaw goal separating the two sides.
The Weavers haven’t won in pre-season yet but it was an improved performance as they prepare for the big kick off away to Thackley in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
Off the field, Golcar have received some welcome news with local firm Crocodile Products continuing as shirt sponsors.
The company, run by Chris and Bevis North, has sponsored the club in different ways for the past few seasons and Chris said: “We are a Huddersfield-based automatic garage door manufacturer. We also specialise in aluminium and glass verandas and winter gardens.
“As the owners of Crocodile, we live and work close to the village of Golcar and enjoy being involved in the community. We feel extremely proud to support and sponsor our local football team.
“We have known the managers Ashley and Gavin Connor for a long number of years and the commitment they show to grassroots football and Golcar is infectious and it creates a great buzz in the local community.”
