A free health screening day is being held at Huddersfield-based eyecare specialist The Body Doctor Ltd.
The screening will help assess people’s risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease or age-related macular degeneration, the leading cause of vision loss in older people.
Everyone screened at the event on Wednesday October 30 at the firm’s Clayton West HQ will receive expert advice and a recommended personal treatment plan to help prevent them from developing the life-altering conditions.
During the screening day the advanced technology LifeMeter will accurately and painlessly measure the concentration of carotenoid nutrients from a visitor’s fingertip in less than a minute, with no skin pricks.
The presence of these nutrients in the skin is a key indicator of someone’s wellbeing. Those with a low carotenoid level have been shown to have a higher frequency of eye strain and fatigue, trouble driving at night, poor contrast sensitivity and slower visual and cognitive processing, plus an increased chance of sunburn and brain fog.
Studies have also shown that carotenoid concentrations are lower in people with mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s disease.
The Body Doctor Ltd recently became the UK distributor for the innovative MacuPrime and ReMind supplements.
MacuPrime is the only eye supplement backed by over 15 clinical trials. ReMind is a first of its kind supplement scientifically formulated to support normal brain function, which has been shown to have positive effects on the quality of life of Alzheimer’s patients.
The LifeMeter uses the most advanced technology to measure carotenoid levels, with its accuracy scientifically proven in over 30 peer-reviewed studies.
“We’re excited to have a LifeMeter in our central hub in Huddersfield as there are only 12 in the whole world,” said The Body Doctor Ltd’s sales and marketing director, Sam Wymer.
“The recently launched LifeMeter screening package is usually offered to stockists of the MacuPrime and ReMind supplements but we wanted to give something back to our local community to help celebrate the milestone opening of The Body Doctor Eye Clinic.
“This ties in nicely with our company ethos of offering products and services which boost health and wellness, making people’s lives happier.
“We hope the public will join us on October 30 for an exclusive day’s clinic to understand their carotenoid level and enhance their life.”
The 20-minute appointments are for up to two people per session and will take place from 9.30am-4.30pm at The Body Doctor Ltd, Unit 1, Bridge Industrial Estate, Off Park Mill Way, Clayton West, Huddersfield, HD8 9XJ.
