Former Huddersfield Town goalkeeper turned barber and hair salon owner Matt Glennon has had his business G27 Hair and Beauty & G27 Barbering selected as finalists in the GB Beauty UK Hair Awards.
The salon has been shortlisted in four award categories: Salon Team of the Year, Hair Salon of the Year, Beauty Salon of the Year and Barber of the Year.
Matt, 44, and his wife Nicola, 45, have owned the Emley-based businesses for nine years.
Matt, who started his training to be a barber while playing at Huddersfield Town, is extremely proud of his team who work tirelessly to give people a fantastic experience.
He said: “Firstly a massive well done and a huge thank you to our fantastic and amazing team for being such a dream to work with.
“Never before have we had the courage to enter awards such as this. It was Nicola who decided to put us in for it and we’re excited to have made it as finalists which is a great achievement in itself.
“Nicola is the driving force behind the business. She is the go to person who keeps up with what’s new and trending.
“We use the best products because we want to give people the very best experience. We started as a small barber business but now we have turned into a bigger hair and beauty salon.
“The Last few years have been tough for many reasons, not least the pandemic, however we are through the other side and these awards mean a lot.”
The salon receives lots of great reviews both online and on social media and the next stage of the awards involves the salon submitting a portfolio to the judges.
