Huddersfield-based Farrar Bamforth Architecture Ltd has won the latest Eaton Smith Solicitors Business of the Month Award.

Farrar Bamforth Architecture Ltd is a firm of architectural technologists offering a range of services to commercial, residential and domestic markets across the whole of the UK.

The company, founded in 1976 by John Farrar and Elon Bamforth, has been run by Tony Bowling since 2019. The firm has recently moved its offices from its long-time home in Trinity Street to Bates Mill in Huddersfield town centre.

Tony, who originally joined the business in 1999, later saw opportunities to explore larger scale, commercial markets, such as industrial projects and residential developments, and seek out work beyond Yorkshire.

Tony expanded the services offered by the business, securing new projects and clients and this proved a turning point for the company.

Managing director Tony, who is celebrating 25 years with the firm this year, said: “We tend to be quite bashful and not great at blowing our own trumpet so when Eaton Smith suggested we should enter, we were very flattered.

“Being chosen this month feels like a testament to the evolution of the business over the last couple of years with a move to new premises, a new website and some significant new projects.

“We have more exciting developments coming soon so it really does feel like a new phase for Farrar Bamforth, and this kind of recognition is a great boost.”

James Burgess, partner at Eaton Smith Solicitors, and member of the judging panel, said: “The judges were particularly impressed at Farrar Bamforth’s approach to the ongoing investment in their people and encouraging staff to play an active role in the development and growth of the business.

“Farrar Bamforth also provides an impressive level of support to the local community, in particular as a proud sponsor of the Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation, supporting the inclusion teams in Learning Disability Rugby League, Physical Disability Rugby League and wheelchair rugby league.

“Farrar Bamforth describe themselves as a proud Yorkshire company, who provide services to clients across the country.

“They are a worthy winner of this month’s award and they now move forward as a finalist at the Business of the Year Awards in June 2025.”

Ben Jackson chaired the judging panel and was joined by Martin Hathaway (Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce), Annie Bradley (Department for Business & Trade) and Rachel McDerby (Mid Yorkshire Chamber).
