Emley AFC have signed a partnership agreement with ambitious Huddersfield District League club Newsome FC.

Newsome have two teams playing in the Premier and 2nd division of the HDAFL and have a development plan to progress to step 7 in the not-too-distant future.

As well as their County Cup winning NCEL Premier Division first team, Emley AFC also have a strong Academy with U18 and U21 sides to develop local players.

The partnership will provide a platform for talented Newsome players to try and progress to the Emley Academy and, perhaps, beyond into the first team.

Existing Emley Academy players may be sent to Newsome to gain valuable open-age Saturday football experience.

Emley will also be able to advise and support Newsome as they make their way up the football pyramid.

Newsome have become Emley’s eighth partnership club and Academy manager Dom Webster said: “This partnership is a win-win for both clubs.

“Newsome is a great place to send young talent that needs to be playing open-age football on a Saturday.

“But we’ll also be able to keep an eye on the lads that Newsome are working with. As the Academy play in midweek leagues, players can play across both clubs to aid their development and contribute to both clubs.”

Newsome interim first team manager Paul Farrell said: “It’s exciting times at Newsome. We’ve got two very good young footballing teams.

“Partnering with Emley is a great opportunity and especially to be working alongside a talented coach as distinguished as Dom Webster.”

Newsome join Emley AFC’s existing partners Yorkshire RTC, Thornes Juniors, Shepley FC, Altofts AFC, West Bretton Juniors, Skelmanthorpe FC and Skelmanthorpe Juniors.

The tie-ups are aimed at providing support for and amongst the partner clubs in whatever areas are required to meet their objectives.
