Emley AFC boss Richard Tracey is hoping his side can clip the wings of Avro in the FA Vase first qualifying round on Friday night.
Avro, named after the renowned aircraft manufacturer, are flying high in their league with a perfect five wins from five matches.
That sees them sitting at the top of the North West Counties League Premier Division, which is step 5 of the Non-League pyramid, one level above Emley.
Avro come to the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground (7.45) having yet to concede a goal this season and Tracey said: “It’ll be a good test for us against a team that is currently unbeaten in their league and, without a doubt, it is one we’re looking forward to.
“It is the unknown for us as we haven’t faced them before. They have had a good start but we watched them at Albion Sports on Wednesday and then made final plans from there.”
It’s a tough assignment but Tracey would love to progress in the competition. He said: “The Vase is a huge cup at this level, and silverware would be a long way off but this game is an opportunity to get into the hat for the next round and that is as far as we look at it.”
Tracey plans to field a strong side and added: “The squad will more than likely be the same but an additional two places on the bench will allow for having wider involvement but with this competition we feel we want to put out our strongest 18.”
