Marsden-based Dark Woods Coffee has been awarded no fewer than 22 accolades in the prestigious Great Taste Awards.
Judged by the Guild of Fine Food’s expert panel, Dark Woods Coffee collected 22 awards including three 3-star awards, 10 2-star awards and nine 1-star awards. This takes the coffee roaster to well over 100 awards in total over the past seven years.
The judges blind-tested 13,672 products with 3,938 being awarded a Great Taste 1-star – ‘food and drink that delivers fantastic flavour’; 1,386 were awarded a Great Taste 2-star – ‘above and beyond delicious’; and 266 were awarded a Great Taste 3-star – ‘extraordinarily tasty food and drink.’
Dark Woods’ 3-star award-winning Black Hill coffee was a big hit with the judges who described it as “rich, deeply flavourful, dark chocolatey and nutty.”
Made with speciality-grade arabica with a “Kaapi Royale” specialty robusta from the Harley Estate in India, it’s a uniquely rich and full-bodied coffee.
Paul Meikle-Janney, of Dark Woods Coffee, said: “We are extremely proud of the Great Taste awards that Dark Woods has received this year.
“The awards have always been an important benchmark for us. Being ‘blind tasted’ by a wide range of food and drink professionals, they give you a great insight into the quality and style of coffee that a wide range of coffee drinkers truly hold in high esteem.”
