Dan Naidole scored his 17th goal of the season to put Golcar United ahead but three quick goals either side of the break sent the Weavers spinning to defeat.

Golcar crashed to only their second league defeat of the season as they went down 4-1 at AFC Blackpool on Saturday.

The disappointment was multiplied as leaders Bury AFC also dropped points with a goalless draw at Holker Old Boys, and a win would have sent Golcar back to the top.

Naidole’s flicked header put the visitors in front in the 37th minute but Blackpool equalised five minutes later when Golcar conceded a penalty and Ben Duffield fired home from the spot.

Blackpool grabbed a second on the stroke of half-time when Ben Roberts headed in after a mix-up in the Golcar defence.

It was 3-1 four minutes into the second half when Blackpool’s Joe Robinson picked the ball up in midfield, and played a perfectly weighted ball to Duffield for his second of the afternoon.

Blackpool’s victory was complete with eight minutes remaining when Golcar goalkeeper Harry Stead came out for the ball but found himself stranded and Kyle White made it 4-1 with a long range finish into an empty net.

Golcar’s next game is on Tuesday night (7.45) when they take on AFC Darwen at the Skye Direct Stadium.
