Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice has issued a call out to West Yorkshire businesses – put Wednesday April 17 in your diary for an inspiring tour of its “outstanding” facilities.
Forget Me Not, which received the highest grade, “Outstanding”, from the Care Quality Commission in January 2024, will be opening its doors for a day to give businesses a rare chance to explore the facilities at Russell House in Huddersfield including the in-house cinema, hydrotherapy pool, sensory room and new soft play area.
As well as guided tours of the purpose-built facility, visitors will also be able to meet staff and hear about the difference their support makes to families facing or living with the loss of their child across West Yorkshire.
There will also be an opportunity to find out more about the different ways businesses can support the hospice and, of course, have some tea and cake!
With only a fraction of the £5.5 million needed to run the hospice coming from the government or NHS, the support of local businesses has been vital in enabling Forget Me Not to continue to offer outstanding care to babies and children with life-shortening conditions and their families across West Yorkshire.
Kirsty Goddard, registered manager at Forget Me Not, said: “Our business supporters make a huge difference to our work here, we truly couldn’t be here without them.
“This is a chance for us to say welcome and thank you. The work we do here is very sensitive and private work so we can’t have people visiting us every day.
“But our open day is one chance to come and see what a difference their support makes and I know they will leave inspired by their experience.
“People are often surprised at what they find when they visit Russell House. It’s nothing like you might imagine a children’s hospice to be.
“Visitors often come expecting something like a hospital, but actually what they find is a home from home, a place of laughter, colour and magic.
“For local businesses, our open day is a fabulous opportunity to get some of your team together and get out of the office for an hour.
“We know that for many local businesses raising money for Forget Me Not is something that helps them connect as a team, develop new skills and feel great! So book in, come for a tour and give yourselves a pat on the back for what we have achieved together.”
Businesses are invited to Russell House on Wednesday April 17 10am-4pm. To let them know you’re coming and book your guided tour email fundraising@forgetmenotchild.co.uk
