St David’s Church, Holmbridge, presents its latest fundraising event in aid of the church organ repair fund.
A special ‘Brass & Cream Tea’ concert by Hepworth Brass Band will be held on Sunday April 14 at 3pm. There’s an exciting programme of music and a delicious interval cream tea.
Sandy Wise, from Holmbridge Church, said: “We are pleased to report that we have now raised approximately 50% of the £82,000 needed for the repair and restoration of our 1838 Conacher Organ.
“The organ was built for St David’s in 1838, in the Conacher Workshops in Huddersfield, at the time, one of the biggest organ workshops in the world.
“Without this major work the organ will not be there for future generations to celebrate weddings, funerals, christenings and other special occasions.”
The church launched its organ repair appeal with a programme of fundraising events, including a series of concerts showcasing local talent and a ‘Sponsor an Organ Pipe’ JustGiving campaign, where people can sponsor a tiny pipe for £10 or any amount up to £1,000 for the beautifully painted largest façade pipes.
