An acting masterclass in Golcar aims to promote the untapped acting talent in West Yorkshire.
Film production company Isaac Who, run by former Doctor Who, Coronation Street and Grange Hill actor Jonny Dixon, will host an all-day event in front of industry experts and casting agents.
Sessions will be led by Jonny, agent Alex Priestly and actors Philip Hill, who has appeared in the likes of The Bay, Common and The English Game and Natalie Gavin, whose credits include Casualty, The Syndicate, Gentleman Jack, Line of Duty and Ackley Bridge.
Jonny, who played Doctor Who cult character Karl the crane operator in Jodie Whittaker’s first episode, launched Treehouse Studios at Heath House Mill in Golcar last September.
The first Actor Masterclass Workshop of the year will be held on Sunday May 8 (9am-7pm) and costs £150 per person.
Jonny, a drama teacher in Huddersfield for 12 years, said his aim for 2022 was to bring new acting talent to the fore.
“There is huge acting potential in West Yorkshire that’s often overlooked,” he said. “We want to create a home where actors, new and old, can learn, train and network with the right people. This masterclass will be the first of many.”
The all-day session focuses on providing coaching and insight from industry professionals with a performance showcase at the end of the day.

With the help of facilitators and coaches, the attendees will devise, create, rehearse and film a scene in a purpose-built set alongside professional actors, directors, and filmmakers. The day will culminate in a live on-set performance filmed in front of an audience of industry professionals, including casting agents and agencies.
