Huddersfield-based accountants and financial planning firm, Simpson Wood, has announced Danny McAllister as its new managing director.

Danny takes over responsibility from Mark Fielding who, after nine years at the helm, is looking to reduce his time commitment. Mark will remain at the firm and will focus on his client portfolio.

Joining Simpson Wood 26 years ago as an accountancy graduate trainee, Danny progressed through the ranks at Simpson Wood becoming one of the firm’s youngest ever partners aged 27, remaining as audit and accounts director before his latest promotion to MD.

Founded in 1880, Simpson Wood – which has offices in Huddersfield and Leeds – has enjoyed a period of growth in recent years. The firm underwent a rebrand in 2022, with a repositioning that focused on what Simpson Wood does best: combining business and personal financial advice to enable people to achieve financial freedom.

Mark said: “Danny is the right person to lead us into the future, and we have the utmost confidence in his abilities to drive Simpson Wood to new heights.

“Over the past 26 years he has consistently demonstrated skills, initiative and a profound understanding of our company’s values and goals.”

Danny said: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mark for his hard work, dedication and continued support and friendship.

“Simpson Wood would not be where it is today without his leadership and the collective efforts of our exceptional team.

“Every member of the team plays a crucial role in the success of the firm from those at board level to the support team to the cleaners and I hope to harness everyone’s talents to build upon that success.”

There was a promotion also for Sukhi Khangura, who will join the board as a director. Sukhi joined the company 18 years ago as a qualified accountant progressing through the firm, latterly as senior audit manager, before becoming audit and accounts director.

Danny added: “We are delighted that Sukhi has accepted our invitation to join the board. She has been an integral part of the team for many years and I know her input as a director will be of great value as we move forward.”
