Enjoy a magical festive evening weaving song and words together in the beautiful setting of Choppards Mission, in the hills above Holmfirth.
Members of Far Cry Acapella and Holmfirth Writers’ Group come together to Wassail you through the dark nights of winter on Saturday December 16 at 7.30pm.
Jenny Goodman, musical director of Huddersfield-based Far Cry, said: “The audience should expect the unexpected. We don’t sing the carols you hear every year but multi-harmony winter songs from folk traditions across the world plus original material and the occasional popular classic.”
Sally Brown, who sings with Far Cry and is also a member of Holmfirth Writers’ Group, added: “We’re so excited to be offering something different this year. The writers have created such beautiful poems and prose inspired by the words of our songs…. plus a sprinkling of humour and bah-humbug! We can’t wait to share it with our audience.”
So come along and celebrate community, light in the darkness, wintery landscapes and angels while supping mulled wine and munching on mince pies. There will also be a cash bar and a raffle.
The event will take place at Choppards Mission, Choppards Bank Road, Holmfirth, HD9 2RP.
