There’s a chance for the public to take a look behind the scenes at the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in Huddersfield.

Open days at Russell House in Brackenhall are being held on Wednesday October 16 and Saturday October 19.

People will have the chance to explore the facilities including the sensory room, hydrotherapy pool, cinema and soft play area.

And for people who’ve visited before there’ll be something new to see – Forget Me Not’s new garden room is a space for counselling, peer support and sibling groups, opened in July this year by Morrison’s CEO Rami Baitiéh.

As well as guided tours of the purpose-built facility, visitors will also be able to meet staff and hear about the difference their support makes to families facing or living with the loss of their child across West Yorkshire.

There will also be an opportunity to find out more about volunteering and career opportunities, upcoming events and challenges and, of course, have some tea and cake and buy Forget Me Not branded goods, in good time for Christmas!

Kirtsy Goddard, registered manager at Forget Me Not, said: “Our open days are something all the team look forward to because it’s an opportunity to dispel people’s misconceptions about what a children’s hospice is like, what it’s like to stay here and what it’s like to work in.

“For families who might need our support it’s a chance to come and have a look round and see what a cosy, joyful place of comfort and support our hospice is, a real home-from-home.”

Everyone is welcome on the open days. More details about both days can be found at https://www.forgetmenotchild.co.uk/supporting-us/events/
