The family of a man who left Huddersfield 40 years ago but never forgot his Yorkshire roots want some help to put names to faces.
Proud Yorkshireman Stephen Draper, who lived in Rawthorpe, Waterloo and Lepton, died in Wales on August 3 at the age of 73.
His family have found photos of old rugby and football teams and would love to identify the teams and some of the players.
Stephen, who is pictured on the front row, second from the right on both pictures, played rugby league, rugby union and football in Huddersfield as a young man.
The family believe the rugby picture may be of Huddersfield Old Boys at Waterloo.
Stephen was born and raised in Huddersfield, the son of Jim and Elizabeth Draper and had a sister Lynne.
His first job was as a caddy at a local golf club at around 15 years old. He spent most of his working life in the ice cream trade.
Stephen married Mair in 1977 and moved to the Rhondda Valley in South Wales where he stayed. He leaves two sons Andrew and Michael and two granddaughters.
Stephen spent some time in Callela in Spain in his 20s where he worked at the Nags Head bar – among others – and met his future wife.
He was a winger and played for several clubs in rugby union and rugby league and his family believe he played RL for Dewsbury, Halifax and Bradford Northern.
His son Andrew said his dad was proud he got to play against Billy Boston, the Welsh-born GB Test star who played for Wigan RL in the 1950s and 1960s.
He also came up against British and Irish Lions rugby union legend Willie John McBride at Lansdowne Road.
Stephen was also a runner and may have competed for Longwood Harriers.
A funeral will be held in South Wales but no date has yet been arranged.
