A vibrant new social group has been set up in Huddersfield to help women find more friends and widen their social circle.
The Girls Chat is the brainchild of Ashleigh Schofield who realised that some young women can be isolated, lonely or simply need a wider circle of friends.
Ashleigh, 22, of Marsden, said: “After talking to a lot of ladies I understand not everyone has a set group of girls or loads of friends and I really want to change that.
“Whether girls are new in town, looking to expand their social circle or simply seeking like-minded souls, they’ll find their tribe here.
“Life’s about spontaneous nights out, making memories you’ll never forgot along with new friends, uncontrollably laughing and so much more.
“Life can be overwhelming and some may feel alone dealing with dilemmas from serious issues to not having an outfit to go drink loads of cocktails in so I wanted to create a group for us ladies.”
The group, called The Girls Chat, has now been set up and 80 ladies aged from 18 to their 50s have already joined, including some from Manchester and Leeds.
Ashleigh, who works in social media for Slaithwaite-based marketing agency Whit Communications, said: “I wanted to set up a group where no-one feels alone and we’re just living the best life we can.
“Our meet ups, nights out, chilled evenings and girls chats are just the beginning. It’s a space created just for us girlies to connect, share stories, make plans and, most importantly, form lasting friendships.
“We’ve also set up a WhatsApp group and they are now talking among themselves and arranging their own events such as walks. Many have said this is just what Huddersfield needs and it’s great that it’s really taken off.”
Two group events lined up are a walk in September and a Christmas social in December with a day out at the Manchester Christmas Markets.
