Huddersfield big band Sundown Swing is planning a concert to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
The concert will be held on Sunday June 2 (2.30pm) at the Jubilee Centre, Market Street, Paddock, HD1 4SH.
The band will play well-known big band music which was being played at that time and which was the happy sounding type of music that helped to keep people’s spirits up during the dark days of World War Two.
The programme will include timeless classics such as ‘American Patrol’, ‘Moonlight Serenade’, ‘Little Brown Jug’ and ‘In the Mood.’
Audience participation will also be expected in a singalong to the tunes ‘White Cliffs of Dover’ and ‘We’ll Meet Again.’
Sundown Swing are a well-established 16-piece big band with an enviable reputation for entertaining their audiences by playing popular big band music.
They perform at many venues throughout Huddersfield and West Yorkshire and last year made a very successful return to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where they performed three concerts at the Edinburgh New Town Church.
Following this they were invited to return to the same venue to perform as part of the 2024 Fringe Festival so are looking forward to another trip to Edinburgh in August.

The Jubilee Centre has step free access and disabled facilities and there is plenty of room inside for wheelchairs.
