A charity that works with families living with critical illness has received a donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation after being nominated by colleagues from the Honley branch.
Slaithwaite-based charity Ruddi’s Retreat received the £850 donation to help them continue their work to provide families with a holiday to create happy, lasting memories.
Ruddi’s Retreat is named after Ruddi Waterworth-Jones who faced a battle to survive cancer. Ruddi’s mum Ali wanted something positive to come from their ordeal and started Ruddi’s Retreat to enable families to get some much-needed respite at the seaside.
Ruddi’s Retreat has helped thousands of families make precious memories with the use of one of their holiday caravans.
Emily Pearson, customer consultant of Yorkshire Building Society in Honley, said: “We are proud to be able to support Ruddi’s Retreat with a donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation. I am so glad we can help them carry on their mission with this donation.”
Vicki Green, funding manager for Ruddi’s Retreat, said: “This donation will ensure that at least four families will receive a respite break from us at a time when it is most needed.
“We would like to thank everyone at Yorkshire Building Society for their support, this donation is really, really appreciated by us all here at Ruddi’s Retreat.”
Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is funded through the Small Change Big Difference scheme where members donate the pennies from the interest on their accounts just once a year to help smaller charities around the UK.
Last year the foundation donated over £283,000 to local causes and charities nominated by members and colleagues from around the UK.
