Huddersfield Star Wheelers Women’s Hill Climb event was a huge success with 37 women taking part.
The ride took place on June 15 from Marsden Golf Club on a beautiful summer’s night.
Riders came from far and wide, the youngest 13 and the oldest 73. They took part on a wide range of bikes.
Club chairman Graham Piccavey set riders off at one-minute intervals from the start and there was a real buzz among the competitors on the start line.
There were plenty of supporters lining the course too as a lot of club members and others turned up to support the riders.
Monica Greenwood (Macclesfield Wheelers) took first prize £40, with a time of 4m:12.3sec, closely followed by Martha Tibbot (Saddleworth Clarion CC) at 4m:17.8sec. She picked up £35. Amy Loftus (East Bradford Race Team) took third place (and first Junior) at 4m:51.7sec, and received £30.
