Golcar United suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time since October after losing 1-0 in a tight affair at Rossington Main.
Golcar made a strong start to the game when Malakai Phillip crossed for Slater Barnes but a Main defender got in the way to chest behind for a corner.
Sam Kelly twice made saves in the opening 10 minutes to deny Main. However, after the opening flurry, chances became few and far between for the rest of the game.
The biggest chance was almost a Christmas gift two days early as the Rossington full-back rattled a Barnes cross off his own crossbar, a massive let off for the home side.
It was goalless at the break and into the second half Barnes found himself one-on-one with the keeper but the ball didn’t bounce kindly and, as he tried to cut back onto his stronger right foot, a Rossington defender managed to recover with a brilliant sliding challenge.
The only goal came in the 72nd minute when Main substitute Ross Hannah saw his effort from outside the box nestle into the bottom left hand corner.
In this game, the referee was making sure everyone knew it was Christmas by handing out plenty of cards.
Unfortunately for Golcar, just two minutes after conceding, Adam Field was shown a harsh second yellow card and therefore sent off.
That left an uphill battle for Golcar and they slipped to successive defeats.
Golcar travel to Thackley on Boxing Day for their sixth away game in a row in a 1pm kick-off.
