The Foresters Arms in Lower Cumberworth is undergoing a transformation following a change in ownership and management.
Under the new management led by Ashley Spencer and chef Michael Dunnett, The Foresters is undergoing a culinary shift with a revised menu, blending modern British cuisine with Mediterranean influences.
Spencer said: “We aim to offer a fusion of styles, including a Mediterranean influence, with a focus on locally sourced and seasonal ingredients.
“We’ve enjoyed a really good dialogue with local residents and regular guests, who have been supportive of the new direction we’re trying to take things in. It’s also been great to welcome many who’d never previously set foot in the business.
“Our role in the local community is very important and building those links through a calendar of events for locals will be a priority. We’re also keen to become known as a destination pub and somewhere worth travelling for.”
The drinks selection includes a curated wine list, Cask Marque accredited real ales and award-winning spirits and Spencer said: “Whilst we’re not the sort of place where you’ll see Jagerbombs lining the bar, we believe there’s something for everyone, both on our food and drinks menus.”
As it has for many years, The Foresters continues to attract patrons exploring Huddersfield’s pub trails, as well as cyclists and dog walkers.
And Spencer, along with a dedicated team of staff, is working to ensure the restaurant features prominently in the Huddersfield dining scene.
The Foresters wants to build on its history and reputation and Spencer added: “Against a backdrop of businesses in the sector closing, we hope to buck the trend and be a real asset to Huddersfield’s pubs and restaurants scene.”
