Golcar United secured back-to-back wins after a thumping 6-0 victory over Maltby Main at the Skye Direct Stadium on Saturday.
Braces from prolific scorer George Doyle and unlikely source Adam Field as well as goals from Alfie Wilkinson and Buddy Cox lifted the club up to 13th in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
It took just 10 minutes for Golcar to break the deadlock, excellent play from Wilkinson as he burst into the box and drilled right footed into the far corner.
Just before the 20th minute, Doyle scored his first of the game. There was more superb work from Wilkinson, a bit of trickery and a cross into the box, and Doyle volleyed home.
On the half hour mark, Doyle turned provider, laying the ball off to Field who calmly slotted home.
Five minutes before the break Golcar were awarded a penalty after Ollie Russon’s shot was handled by a defender. Doyle almost slipped in his run-up but still had the composure to bury the spotkick for his second of the game.
Going into the half-time break, joint managers Ash and Gav Connor couldn’t have asked for a better first half performance.
There wasn’t much to shout about in the first 20 minutes of the second half, but an in-swinging corner from Slater Barnes on the 67th minute was met by Field to score his second of the game.
In the 83rd minute, substitute Cox got himself on the scoresheet, further rubbing salt into the Maltby Main wounds.
After the game Golcar skipper Dan Stocker said: “We were dominant from the very start” and added: “We took our chances well with a class performance to match.”
Golcar’s next game is on November 25 when they travel to Penistone Church.
