Huddersfield BID is committed to helping town centre businesses deal with the pressures of increased running costs and is continuing to offer free workplace training.
In order to upskill employees with essential workplace skills, Huddersfield BID is offering a further three courses throughout the year after completing the first one in First Aid. These are:
- Level 2 Award in Fire and Safety (RQF) on March 20 – fire safety in the workplace is mandatory training with regards to health and safety legislation that places a duty on employers to establish policies and procedures and ensure their employees receive appropriate training;
- Workplace Health and Safety on August 21 – This Level 2 accredited, nationally recognised qualification is extremely useful for employees of all levels but is designed particularly for those who may be carrying out a health & safety representative role within their organisation, or who are looking to progress into a supervisory position or further training;
- Food Hygiene course on November 20 – This Level 2 accredited, nationally recognised qualification is an excellent introduction to food safety in catering and will benefit all employees at all levels. It covers various topics to ensure that learners understand relevant legislation, their responsibilities in terms of keeping work areas clean and hygienic and keeping food safety. Successful candidates receive a certificate – valid for 3 years.
This training is part of BID’s commitment to support town centre businesses and help them deal with the pressures of increased running costs during the cost-of-living crisis.
Huddersfield BID (Business Improvement District) was created by Huddersfield businesses in 2019. One of their key four objectives is to “encourage the growth, development and investment of businesses and organisations which support the development of Huddersfield’s identity.”
The courses are fully-funded for levy paying businesses, and training will be provided by Huddersfield-based Dak Training in the BID’s office on Market Avenue in Huddersfield.
BID manager Sam Sharp said: “Our town and all its users are important to the continued growth and development of the BID zone.
“In line with our objective to make a great business and cultural offer, one of the courses will give our local food and beverage businesses the opportunity to educate themselves in new areas, update current skills and develop an up-to-date understanding of food safety management systems.”
DAK training manager David Kitson added: “We are privileged to work in collaboration with the BID to provide training courses to the levy paying businesses in Huddersfield in order to upskill their workforce and ultimately provide them with much needed training to help in the successful running of their business.”
