Cabaret icon Dr Adam Perchard was a lockdown star singing bathroom hits online and is now back on stage and coming to the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield.
‘Dr Adam Perchard’s BATHTIME FOR BRITAIN’ promises a non-stop parade of big hits, belly laughs and booming vocals and the show comes to Huddersfield on Friday January 27 (8pm).
Dr Adam lost all work almost overnight when the pandemic struck and left a hedonistic lifestyle in London to return to the family home in Jersey.
As a teenager, Adam spent hours singing in the bathroom, dreaming of a life on stage. When that life was gone Dr Adam returned to the bathroom, took a deep breath and started to sing.
After posting videos of some of these bathtime songs online, Adam quickly became a sensation on the locked-down island. Jersey Arts Centre spotted them, commissioned a live show and everything snowballed from there.
Dr Adam Perchard is a critically acclaimed – and proudly non-binary – singer, comedian, playwright and poet.
The show promises to be a wild night on the tiles for all party-lovers, pop-enthusiasts, theatre luvvies, comedy connoisseurs and members of the LGBT+ rainbow family.
It’s a hot, foamy mixture of live singing, sassy story-telling, witty re-writes and Liberace-level costumery with some David Bowie, Kate Bush, Queen and Whitney thrown in.
Tickets are £16 and can be booked at https://www.thelbt.org/what-s-on/cabaret-and-variety/bathtime-for-britain/#tickets or call the Box Office on 01484 430528. The running time is 80 minutes. Age guidance 16+.
