Marsden FC are on a real roll and sit top of the Yorkshire League Second Division after winning all eight of their league fixtures so far.
Boss Luke Haigh insists it has been a perfect start to the campaign but also says the team must keep pushing forward.
On the season so far Haigh said: “Well, it’s been a perfect start points wise for the club. We currently sit top of the division at the moment winning eight games out of eight.
“We are slowly improving game by game and considering this is a completely new team who haven’t played together before, I’m starting to see little relationships forming on the pitch now with players knowing when and where to run.
“We are still very much in a transitional period and I am very much a perfectionist when it comes to how my teams play. When we do get it down and play we can be a joy to watch.
“However, it’s still only in spells and we need to start doing it more on a consistent basis and for longer periods in the game.”
Haigh is particularly delighted with how prolific striker John Conheeney has performed this season.
He added: “The whole squad has been brilliant so far but John Conheeney has been exceptional. He’s scored a massive 18 goals in six games which has resulted in him being called up to the Yorkshire Amateur League representative team.”
The club is also still building off the pitch and Haigh is happy with the progression.
“The dugouts at the club are now complete,” he said. “The club house is due to get refurbished shortly and we are currently looking into floodlights for the pitch so we can then play night games. I will continue to push the club forwards to its max and so far the club is backing me to do so.
“We are hoping to get all the railings covered with aluminum sponsor boards too. So if any local businesses would like to sponsor us please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
