An adaptation of Charles Dickens’ timeless classic ‘A Christmas Carol’ is coming to Farnley Tyas.
The Farnley Tyas community presents a John Mortimer play in the atmospheric surroundings of St Lucius’s Church from Wednesday November 30 to Friday December 2.
Local amateur thespian Nick Wade, who directed the hugely successful ‘Theatre in the Park’ and ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, has brought together some terrific local talent.
This classic tale recounts the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, an elderly miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come.
Nick said: “Never mind the ghosts of past, present and future – the true spirit here is one of community, which has truly embraced this exciting venture from costumes, to sets, to prop making.
“A few weeks ago we started with absolutely nothing, just the seed of an idea. I’m excited to show people what we’ve created.”
The show also features live and original accompanying music by local student Dan Bezkorowajnyj.
Nick added: “What a way to kick off the festive season! Don’t be a ‘bah humbug, come and support this show!”
Tickets at £10 for adults and £8 for under-16s can purchased at the village pub The Golden Cock or online HERE. Curtain up is at 7.30pm and doors open 15 minutes before each performance.
