The 2022-2023 Huddersfield District League season kicked off with two rounds of midweek games for all divisions with Saturday September 3 seeing the first weekend games.
Holmbridge are the only Division 1 club with a 100% record and are top after three matches. They won away at Skelmanthorpe 1-0, in their first game, beat Britannia Sports 4-3 in their second game and despatched Slaithwaite United 3-1 on Saturday.
Berry Brow lie second following their 1-1 draw with last season’s champions Heywood Irish Centre who are in third place. Britannia Sports, Slaithwaite United and Shepley are marooned at the wrong end of the table with no points.
Moorside have started the season with three convincing wins which has them top of Division 2. They opened their account with a fine 5-1 win against Lepton Highlanders at their new home at Churchill Playing fields in Uppermill.
They travelled to Huddersfield Laund Hill for their second and won 3-1 and in their local derby against Diggle they scored eight without reply. Scissett and Lepton Highlanders are both pointless and bottom of the division.
In Division 3 Honley are joint top with a maximum nine points from three games. They won 3-1 at Wooldale Wanderers and they won 4-1 at Holmfirth Town. On Saturday they entertained Marsden at home and won 6-2.
Meltham are also joint top beating Marsden 2-1 at home. They also beat Mount 3-0 at home. On Saturday they entertained Wooldale Wanderers and won 2-1. Cartworth Moor and new boys Fenton United are joint bottom.
Fothergill and Whittles Reserves top reserve Division 1 with a 100% record, three wins from three. They travelled to AFC Lindley and won 4-1. They followed up this with a narrow 4-3 win away at Heywood Irish Centre. Their third win was 4-1 at home to Deighton.
Berry Brow are second with seven points having dropped points on Saturday in a 1-1 draw with Kirkburton. Heywood Irish Centre, Netherton and Cumberworth all have yet to gain a point.
In reserve Division 2 Brook Motors Reserves are the early leaders with seven points from nine having dropped points in a 1-1 draw with Scissett last Saturday.
Deighton A are second having played two games with six points. Cumberworth A, Britannia Sports A and Netherton A have all yet to win a point.
There is a three-way tie at the top of reserve Division 3 with Kirkheaton Rovers, Wooldale Wanderers and Honley all with seven points from nine.
