A family fun day in Greenhead Park to mark the Queen’s platinum jubilee will include everyone chipping in to make a giant piece of artwork from baby clothes.
The event will also feature a toddler triathlon course that will feature puddle jumping, balancing on a bike and toddling.
The fun day is on Thursday, June 2, from 11am to 3pm near the park’s war memorial and other activities include walks and guided meditations, yoga, art projects and messages for the Queen to mark her 70 years on the throne.
Another highlight will be making a giant interactive piece of art in the park made from old baby clothes so people are urged to bring as many as they can along with them on the day.
Any good quality clothes not needed for the artwork will be donated to the Baby Boutique at the Chestnut Centre in Deighton and stained or damaged clothing will be turned to rags.
The baby boutique provides urgent support or essentials from clothes to nappies for babies and parents across Kirklees.
The fun day has been organised by Parent Sanctuary, Little Bikers and YAGA Art.
Parent Sanctuary is a community interest company which encourages parents of babies and very young children to get out into the fresh air to walk and talk.
Little Bikers in Huddersfield helps to teach very young children to ride a bike and then grow in confidence with their new-found skill. YAGA Art is also based in Huddersfield and focuses on arts and crafts.
