Golcar United boss Ash Connor is excited for their play-off semi-final game against AFC Blackpool this Saturday at the Skye Direct Stadium (3.00). However, he knows his side will have to recover their early season form if they are to keep their promotion dream alive.
The Weavers have only won once in their last 10 league games and were beaten by play-off opponents Blackpool in the last month.
On the upcoming game Connor said: “We are very excited for the fixture. We know we haven’t been in good form but we have got to this stage which is a real achievement. However the job isn’t finished yet. We set out at the beginning of the season to get promotion and so we have to win on Saturday to still make that a possibility.”

United lost to Blackpool 4-1 away from home back in November and were defeated by them again at the end of March losing 2-1. Connor is hoping it will be third time lucky this time around.
He said: “We have played them twice and lost. They are a very good side and we know we’ll have to be at our very best to beat them.
“After the recent 2-1 home defeat they will be full of confidence and will come out wanting to win again on Saturday so we need to be ready.”
One player who will not make it is Oliver Willitts who picked up an ankle injury in the 3-0 defeat to Bury AFC.
Connor added: “We lost Oliver Willitts on Saturday. He looks to have injured his ankle which is a real blow as his season is over. Oliver has had a great season and so it’s a real shame he now won’t make this fixture.”
Golcar had a club record 1,200 crowd against Bury last Saturday and Connor wants the fans to turn out in force again this weekend.
He said: “I’m sure the village will come out and back us again as they have all season and help push us towards that final.”
