Golcar United are looking to get back to winning ways this weekend as they take on Pilkington in the North West Counties Division One North.
United were defeated 2-0 last weekend by fellow promotion contenders Holker Old Boys. That left them in second position as Bury AFC once again claimed top spot with a better goal difference.
The Weavers have only lost four games all season and boss Ash Connor sees January as a big month for the club having three home games in a row.
He said: “We were disappointed with the result against Holker and we want to put things right against Pilkington. We know they are a tough, strong, physical side who will battle for every ball.
“It’s good we have some home games but we are just taking it one game at a time. I know I say it all the time but anyone can beat anyone in this league so you have to play well every week.”
United beat Pilkington away earlier in the campaign winning 6-2 in what was a dominant performance.
The visitors have been in poor form of late and have lost three games on the spin, going down 3-1 at home to Ashton Town and then 4-1 to Nelson at home and 5-1 away at Bacup Borough. Despite these defeats they still sit in fourth position in the league table and are generally considered best of the rest.
The game kicks off at 3pm on Saturday at the Skye Direct Stadium where Golcar will be hoping for another bumper crowd after last Monday’s season-best festive attendance of 645.
