The West Yorkshire Hawks found their home comforts with a dominant 97-71 victory over Tees Valley Mohawks at the University of Huddersfield.
After more than a month on the road, the Hawks made sure their fans had plenty to cheer about, securing their third win of the season.
Chris Sibbett made a whirlwind start, scoring 18 of his 21 points in the first quarter. The Hawks were 29-6 ahead after the first quarter and extended their lead to 52-27 by half-time.
While the Mohawks improved after the break, the Hawks never relinquished control. With a 27-point cushion heading into the fourth quarter, the outcome was all but sealed.
Head coach Danny Byrne was full of praise for his side’s blistering start and said: “That first quarter is exactly the style of basketball I want us to play every game.
“It was fast-paced and built off defensive intensity. Credit to Tees Valley – they didn’t back down and made us work for it as the game went on.”
Apart from Sibbett, Charles Andrews chipped in a season-high 20, Dave Walsh added 18 points and Rob Donaldson finished with 13.
The Hawks are back in action on Saturday November 30 (6.30pm), hosting the Manchester Kings for a special 90s Night at the University of Huddersfield.
