Christmas has arrived in Huddersfield and hundreds of people packed into St George’s Square to see the Christmas lights switched on.

An afternoon of music on Saturday afternoon included a variety of performers from Flat Cap Brass to Honley Ladies Choir.

There was lots of fun and festivities and ice sculptor Jamie Wardley took a chain saw to a lump of ice and created a postbox for the special delivery of letters to Santa.

Crowds thronged around the Christmas tree and the Huddersfield Winter Festival tipi as a panto dame flicked the switch to start the countdown to Christmas.
