It’s the start of the weekend, the sun’s out and you want to let your hair down and have a good time with some friends listening to some excellent live music. Where better to look than Summer in the Courtyard at Lawrence Batley Theatre?

Every Friday and Saturday throughout the summer, until August 27, there will be live music and other special events happening at the heart of Huddersfield’s cultural quarter.

The outdoor programme, which takes place in the courtyard in front of the Huddersfield town centre theatre, was initially started in 2020 and in this their third year they are looking forward to seeing audiences dancing, singing along and enjoying themselves.

The event features returning artists resident drag queen Miss D, and 5 piece indie folk band Fishing4Compliments, as well as new voices such as local musician Richard Sykes, singer songwriter Jack Manning and more!

Becky Atkinson, interim chief executive of the Lawrence Batley Theatre, said: “With live music outside our theatre, great cocktails and beers on offer, we have the best suntrap in Huddersfield town centre.

“At this free relaxed event, it’s great to have the opportunity to throw open our gates and entertain the community, especially people who might not normally come to the theatre.”

In previous years audiences have enjoyed food alongside the music and dancing, and this year will be no different.

From Friday July 1 Donna Italia authentic 12” Italian stone baked pizzas will be served, baked to perfection in an Italian pizza oven, and there will be a range of drinks offers available to keep you fed and watered whilst you enjoy the entertainment.
