Snowgate Estate Agents have officially opened their new office in a building that served a town as a butcher’s shop for more than a century.
Snowgate has moved to 128 Huddersfield Road, Mirfield, to refurbished premises that had been family-run C Ramsden Butchers since 1920.
The new office was opened by fourth generation family butcher Chris Ramsden who had worked in the shop for around 50 years.
Snowgate, which now owns the building, has chosen to reinvest in the heart of Mirfield as part of their continued growth.
The move reflects increased demand, team expansion and a long-term commitment to the town centre, reinforcing the firm’s confidence in Mirfield and its future.
Snowgate has operated in Mirfield for 18 years, originally trading as Earnshaw Kay before rebranding in 2022.
Oliver Bailey, director of Snowgate Estate Agents, said: “This move is a big moment for us as a business. Owning this building and investing in it shows how serious we are about Mirfield. This is our home, and we are here for the long term.”
Snowgate were keen to preserve the building’s heritage and have retained the original C Ramsden Butchers sign on the corner, alongside historic photographs inside the office.
Chris Ramsden said: “This building has been part of my family since 1920, and I worked here for around 50 years, so it means a great deal to me. I’m genuinely delighted to see Snowgate take it on and give it a new future.
“I’m especially pleased they’ve kept the C Ramsden Butchers sign visible. It’s important to the people of Mirfield and a reminder of what the building has meant to the town.”
