Here’s the ultimate fun run for foodies … a pieathlon with plenty of pies to munch on the way.

The fancy dress event in Longwood on Saturday, December 20 combines a 6km trail run with a selection of delicious pies to taste which are available at the three pie stations along the route.

The race starts and finishes at The Dusty Miller pub on Gilead Road in Longwood with the route taking the runners through mainly off-road terrain and challenges, including the infamous ‘bog of doom’ and around Longwood reservoir.

The pieathlon has been running for several years and the organisation this year has been taken over by the 25th Salendine Nook Scout Group in collaboration with The Dusty Miller.

The money raised will be split between the scout group and organising next year’s pieathlon.

Everyone who takes part will get a medal with prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 1st Lady, 1st Junior and Best Fancy Dress.

The race starts at 11am.
