Huddersfield’s PRIMO Italian restaurant is to re-open with a new owner and a new menu after a nine-day refurbishment.
Local entrepreneur Ben Craven has taken over the restaurant in Viaduct Street, a place he’s loved since he was a child.
Ben says PRIMO will evolve into a modern yet authentic dining destination with a menu that combines much-loved classics with exciting new creations.
The restaurant closed on Saturday for a full transformation ahead of a re-opening on Thursday October 30.
“This is a really exciting time,” said Ben. “I’ve visited PRIMO since I was a child and to now have the opportunity to completely refurbish and elevate the brand is an honour.
“We’re bringing Huddersfield a new dining experience in keeping with the levels of service and food that people expect, and I’m really looking forward to welcoming guests old and new.”

The interior will have a warm, contemporary design with deep greens, soft lighting and natural textures to create a sophisticated but welcoming space.
On the menu, diners can expect to see PRIMO’s much loved lasagne sitting proudly alongside new standout dishes such as Spianata and Hot Honey Pizza, Slow-Braised Short Rib Ragu and Nduja and Mozzarella Arancini, as well as Giant Mozzarella Sticks set to become a firm favourite.
Alongside the food, PRIMO will boast an impressive Italian wine list, celebrating vineyards from Piedmont to Puglia with small-batch discoveries rarely seen outside Italy.
The expanded list has been carefully selected to offer something for every palate, budget and occasion. There will also be a new selection of Italian cocktails.
Diners visiting midweek can also enjoy PRIMO’s Early Evening Menu, available Tuesday to Thursday between 4.30pm and 6.30pm, offering two courses and a drink for just £20.95.
Looking ahead, PRIMO will host a programme of Italian tasting menu events with optional wine pairings.
Sundays will see the launch of a family-oriented Sunday roast with generous sharing boards, featuring Italian-inspired roast meats such as porchetta and slow-braised beef short rib stuffed Yorkshire puddings.
The restaurant will be open Tuesday to Saturday from 4.30pm to 10pm, with bookings now available online at www.primohuddersfield.co.uk.
