More than 8,000 people are expected to attend Mirfield Show which is back on Sunday (August 21) after a two-year absence.

And there’s a patriotic theme to the show this year to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee so the showground will be a riot of red, white and blue!

Show chairman Jonathan Evans said: “Life has been very difficult for many over the last couple of years and we think we’re all ready for a bit of fun – and we’ve certainly got a full, fun-packed day lined up.

“Our team of volunteers have been working throughout the year putting the day together. For quite a few of our volunteers it will be their first taste of a real event.

“Our theme for the day is the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Many of the competitions and attractions will have a Royal aspect.”

There are two main ring attractions on the day:

Stannage Stunt team – Sponsored by Taylor Wimpey

This is a true family affair. The Stannage International Stunt Team – Mark, Janine, and Aaron Stannage – have worked worldwide as the Stannage International Stunt Team  established in the year 2000, bringing excitement to audiences of all ages.

Team leader Mark started his professional career in 1984 aged 14 and now has over 30 years’ experience specialising in car, motorbike, fire and high fall stunts, performing some of the most spectacular stunts ever seen on film or TV.

The End of the Show Show

Led by popular local singer Karen Clegg,  and featuring the Grange Moor Brass Band, this will be the finale of the show. A musical extravaganza taking us through the years of the Queen’s reign. Audience participation is a must and it should leave us all with a feel good factor.

The rest of the show:

Many of the much loved attractions will be there – Pinxton Puppets, an agricultural display, small animals in the marquee, Eggucation (live egg hatching during the day).

As always they will have a live Music Stage, Fun Dog Show, Competition Marquee, Made in Yorkshire Marquee and much more.

The show would be nothing without its hard-working volunteers. The committee works throughout the year to bring the show together on the special day.

To keep the 8,000-plus visitors happy on show day, they are always on the look-out for volunteers to come along and help out over show weekend. If you fancy yourself a fun ‘meeter & greeter’ or are handy at putting up a gazebo, get in touch as they may have just the position for you.
