He’s had a warm welcome in Honley and he wants to help the community keep the village clean and tidy.

Jamie Brook, 24, is the new Kirklees Council roadsweeper for Honley and he’s just finding his feet after five weeks in the job.

Dad-of-one Jamie moved over from Huddersfield town centre and got a great reaction on Facebook when he introduced himself to people in Honley.

Jamie is out and about Monday to Friday and is getting used to his patch and getting to know local people.

Jamie, who lives in Crosland Moor, said: “I’ve had a great welcome and been greeted by some lovely people already.

“I just want to let Honley people know that I’m going to do my best for them and I’m always happy for folk to let me know of any problems or any areas that need more attention.

“I’ve been here five weeks now and I have a different route every day and I’m getting to know which bins fill up the quickest.

“Honley is a really clean place, to be honest, and there’s a community litter pick every month which really helps me do my job.”

Jamie is looking forward to meeting more people as Covid-19 restrictions are eased and shops and businesses re-open.
