Kirklees College is holding its first open days of 2023 and adult learners as well as teenage students are invited to find out about the opportunities on offer.

The college’s Huddersfield centres are staging open days on Saturday January 21 (10.30am-1pm) and the Dewsbury centres on Wednesday January 25 (5.30pm-7.30pm).

Kirklees College has more than 13,000 students across Kirklees. As well as the main centre in Manchester Road, Huddersfield, the other centres open will be the Brunel Construction Centre in Old Fieldhouse Lane, the Engineering Centre in Turnbridge Road and Taylor Hill Animal Centre at Close Hill Lane, Taylor Hill.

The open days give prospective students a unique opportunity to see the college for themselves and get a feel for the environment they will be studying in. Visitors can ask tutors questions and go on guided tours of the facilities.

A recent visitor to the Huddersfield centre was Colne Valley Tory MP Jason McCartney, who was shown around by principal and CEO Palvinder Singh, pictured above.

A college spokesman said: “Our mission is to create opportunities and change the lives of people across Kirklees.

“We offer a wide range of 16-18, higher education and adult courses. We are also a leading provider of apprenticeships in West Yorkshire. Our tutors are industry experienced, helping create an informed, talented and aspirational workforce.”

In Dewsbury, prospective students will be able to visit the Springfield Sixth Form Centre in Bradford Road and the Pioneer Higher Skills Centre in Northgate.

Helen Rose, director of external relations, said: “Our November open days were a huge success, seeing record numbers of attendees visit the college.

“We hope to see even more guests during our January open days, as more 16-year-olds get closer to sitting their GCSEs and facing decisions about their next steps.

“We also hope to see plenty of adult learners and look forward to showing visitors the amazing educational opportunities we have for people of all ages across Kirklees.”
