Into the Spotlight, sponsored by Huddersfield-based Scriba PR, is a regular feature which highlights some great businesses. Here we profile Lockwood-based clothing company Revival Vintage.

Revival Vintage is a Huddersfield success story.

A unique clothing company, Revival Vintage was started by Helene Fallows in 2003 selling vintage clothing from the 1940s to the 1980s from a market stall in Queensgate Market.

As the business grew, it moved into shop units in Huddersfield town centre before relocating to its current showroom at Railway Sawmills in Burbeary Road, Lockwood.

As the business evolved, fancy dress products were offered and Helene was joined by husband Mark. Revival was split into two parts, Revival Vintage and Revival Fancy Dress, but in 2018 the couple decided to focus on vintage clothing and closed the fancy dress side of the business.

The business now specialises in fashions from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s for both women and men. It sells both original vintage clothing and has its own limited-run replica range.

There are women’s dresses, coats, suits, handbags and accessories and several ranges of men’s shirts, jackets, trousers, knitwear and more.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Revival Vintage has overcome many challenges down the years and Helene said: “From the outset, we aimed to treat people as we would like to be treated, operating with fairness and kindness towards employees and customers alike.

“We have been through such a lot in the past 20 years – thefts, fires, floods, a pandemic, Brexit, strikes to name only a few – but we adjust, we pull together and keep moving forward.”

Now predominantly an online company, Revival Vintage has continued to grow and expand its team and created a global community of vintage fashion lovers.

Their stock consists of true vintage pieces and their own range of replica clothing which has featured in countless TV shows and films including Riverdale, All Creatures Great and Small and Dancing on Ice as well as a number of global blockbusters.

To celebrate their 20th anniversary, Revival will host a gala ball to raise money for the Huddersfield-based Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

The event will take place at Cedar Court Hotel at Ainley Top on Saturday October 7 2023 from 6pm-11.30pm.

An evening of vintage nostalgia is promised with live performances from Blues Band, The Washboard Resonators and vintage vocalist Lily LoveJoy.

Guests will also get exclusive viewing of a Revival Vintage fashion show which will include a preview of their upcoming garments.

During the event, a three-course meal will be served and there will be a raffle, a ‘best dressed’ competition and dancing. Vintage attire is preferred but not essential.
