Huddersfield Town legend Marcus Stewart greets epic fundraiser Sir Kevin Sinfield at the Accu Stadium

Huddersfield Town legend Marcus Stewart was among the crowd who turned out to welcome MND fundraiser Sir Kevin Sinfield to the Accu Stadium.

Former Leeds Rhinos star Sir Kevin stopped off in Huddersfield as part of his 7-in-7: The Grand Finale challenge.

The challenge is the final endurance feat undertaken by Sir Kevin and involves seven ultra-marathons in seven days taking in the Super League Grand Final on Saturday October 3 and finishing in Manchester on Sunday.

Sir Kevin started from Hull KR last Sunday and will visit each of the 12 Super League grounds.

He’s already raised more than £11 million over the last seven years inspired by his friend and fellow RL legend Rob Burrow who died of motor neurone disease in 2024.

The six charities set to benefit from this latest fundraising include the MND Association, Leeds Hospitals Charity, My Name5 Doddie Foundation, Darby Rimmer Foundation, MND Scotland and the Irish MND Association.

Sir Kevin – wearing Huddersfield Giants’ claret and gold – was met by supporters at the Accu Stadium including Marcus Stewart and his wife Louise. Marcus was diagnosed with MND in 2022 and has lost control of both his arms. Louise is now his full-time carer.

Marcus, whose two sons play for Huddersfield RUFC, raises funds for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.
