Huddersfield Light Opera Company unwraps Charlie and The Chocolate Factory at the Lawrence Batley Theatre

Huddersfield Light Opera Company is staging family favourite Charlie and the Chocolate Factory following its sell-out production of Hairspray.

This spectacular stage show follows the devilishly delicious tale of young golden ticket winner Charlie Bucket and the mysterious confectionary wizard Willy Wonka.

It combines the original score and memorable songs from the 1971 film including Candy Man, I’ve Got a Golden Ticket, Oompa Loompa Song and Pure Imagination together with dazzling costumes and scenery.

Huddersfield Light Opera Company has been working on this production since October 2025 and welcome young actors Max Buddy Moorhouse (above, left) and Charlie Sproson (above, right) who are sharing the role of Charlie, pictured with Tom Widdop as Willy Wonka.

The performance runs from Saturday, April 25 to Saturday, May 2 with tickets available from the Lawrence Batley Theatre box office or online at https://www.thelbt.org/what-s-on/musical-theatre/charlie-and-the-chocolate-factory/
