Food festival fans in Huddersfield are going to be spoiled for choice with not one but two food and drink events this summer.

Huddersfield Food & Drink Festival is back bigger and better than ever for four days and will be held at Greenhead Park on Thursday August 3 to Sunday August 6.

And Huddersfield BID is also planning a separate three-day event, HuddersFeast, in St George’s Square from Friday September 22 to Sunday September 24.

The Huddersfield Food & Drink Festival had to be cancelled last year due to spiralling energy prices, the cost-of-living crisis and lingering Covid fears but it’s all systems go for 2023.

Sam Watt, of organisers Huddersfield Live, said the festival would be much more than what people have come to expect from Huddersfield Food & Drink Festival and would be a celebration of everything that’s great about the town.

Community groups and charities will be invited to attend and have stalls in various zones within the park to promote what they do.

Sam said: “Huddersfield Food & Drink Festival will be bigger and better than ever this year and we want as many local traders and community groups involved as possible and we’ll have more details soon on how to get involved.

“We want the festival at Greenhead Park to be a showcase for all that’s great about Huddersfield.”

Meanwhile, HuddersFeast expects to have up to 25 food and drink stalls with live music and entertainment in St George’s Square from 11am to 9pm on all three days.

Huddersfield BID chairman Joe Lawson said: “We’re thrilled to announce our new festival, which aims to celebrate and promote Huddersfield as the place to be.

“We want to support our local food and drink community where possible, whilst also welcoming visitors to the fabulous space at St George’s Square.”

Huddersfield BID is hard at work promoting the town centre and has two other big events planned this summer – the comic con Get Your Geek On which is on Saturday June 24 and Huddersfield Beer Week on July 15-22.

BID manager Sam Sharp said: “We’re excited to partner with local traders and producers for our HuddersFeast event and provide them with a platform to showcase their businesses.

“This is our third large event of 2023 and we hope HuddersFeast will become a regular fixture in the Huddersfield BID events calendar.”
