A mystery car lover who has become an internet sensation after taking photos of eye-catching vehicles in Holmfirth has organised an unusual fundraising day to help youngsters.
For the petrolhead known simply as The Holmfirth Car Spotter takes photos of cars that are classics or particularly unusual in Holmfirth and then publishes them on his Facebook page.
The mystery man only started in May this year but his page had 600,000 views in just 28 days and he’s now become known as ‘Banksy with a camera.’
He’s organised for 15 classic or unusual cars to tour four venues in Huddersfield on one day – Sunday, August 23 – to raise money for the Huddersfield organisation Youths At Work which connects young people aged 15 to 21 with volunteering, work experience and career guidance.
The cars will be at each venue for around 90 minutes.
Here are the venues and timings:
10am at The Weavers Shed, 86 Knowl Road, Golcar, HD7 4AN.
12noon at Underbank Working Men’s Club, 105 Dunford Road, Holmfirth, HD9 2DU.
2pm at The Travellers Rest, 88 New Mill Road, Brockholes, HD9 7AZ
4pm at The Stag, 456 Wakefield Road, Dalton, HD5 8PS.
People will get chance to see the cars up close and there will be food and drink at every venue.
The Holmfirth Car Spotter said: “The page is just a bit of fun to get people talking. I’d noticed lots of great cars in Holmfirth and wanted to share them. Anything that’s a bit quirky catches my eye and there’s certainly an eclectic mix.
“When I first launched it I thought people might get annoyed by me taking pictures and putting them on Facebook but everybody loves it and wants to be on there.
“People say it’s a breath of fresh air. It’s a cool and simple idea that makes people smile.”
